Channel five baseball

Well, last week I taped the Wednesday night baseball on five. When I got round to watching it on Thursday, it wasn't a live game but was the film of the 2004 World Series. Internet rumours abounded that the Wed live game was no more. Sure enough, watched Sunday night's game and this is indeed the case. Jonny Gould advised that unfortunately the Wednesday live game was finished for the season but he was unable to tell us mere viewers the reason why. He says we should be grateful for the fact we have Sunday night live baseball as well as the whole World Series. That is all well and good but the live Wed game has been going for 7 years. Why stop now? Are the viewing figures so bad or can five not afford to pay? It's a bit worrying for the future of live baseball on five.
